GEO — being understood by AI

People ask an assistant before they ask a friend. Your name should be in that answer.

The problem

  • Ask an assistant for a good lash studio and you are not in the answer.
  • What it does say about you is wrong or out of date.
  • Your site is full of adjectives and short of facts a system can cite.
  • Key details sit inside images or behind a click.

What changes

  • Pages that state who you are, what you do, where, in which languages, with what proof.
  • Direct answers to real questions, in visible content.
  • Structured data that matches what the page actually shows.
  • The bots that should reach you can, and you have a record of who came.

What you get

Entity check

Name, founder, location, services, languages and verification links agree everywhere.

Answer blocks

Real questions answered in visible copy, not hidden behind a toggle.

Evidence with dates

Awards, certificates and work carry the issuing body and the year.

Schema that matches

Nothing declared that the page does not show.

Bot access

Robots configured so OAI-SearchBot and search crawlers can read public pages. Training access is a separate decision you make.

Tracking

The same question set re-tested on a cycle so you can see the answer change.

How it works

1

Collect the verifiable facts about the brand.

2

Rewrite content to answer directly, including limits and exclusions.

3

Build schema and check it against the visible page.

4

Open bot access and review the logs.

5

Re-test the question set monthly and adjust.

Scope and limits

  • No one can guarantee an AI citation. We make you eligible to be cited.
  • GEO is not a secret file or a prompt for the model. The base is still good SEO.
  • Anything we cannot verify does not get published.

Before you decide

How is GEO different from SEO?

SEO gets the page found. GEO makes an answer-generating system understand who you are, what you do, where, and what evidence exists. Both rest on the same base: crawlable, genuinely useful content.

Do we need llms.txt?

It is not a shortcut. Google states that generative search still rests on ordinary SEO. We can add one if you want it, but it is not the substance.

How do we know it worked?

We re-run a fixed question set on a cycle and record whether the brand is mentioned, whether the facts are right, and which page is cited.

Should we allow GPTBot?

Two separate things. OAI-SearchBot is search; GPTBot is training. We recommend allowing search, and leaving the training decision to you.

An assistant said something wrong about us. Can that be fixed?

At the source, yes: make the correct facts prominent on crawlable pages and consistent across channels. There is no direct edit button for a model answer.

Is this worth it for a small business?

It is worth it once you have real facts: work, credentials, service area, clear pricing. If those are missing, start by collecting them.

Does this have to be done separately for each AI system?

No. The base is the same: pages a machine can read, details that agree with each other, and claims that can be checked. What differs is testing - we ask each system the same set of questions to see which one still has you wrong.

How often does the content need updating?

At minimum whenever a real fact changes: prices, courses, hours, a new certificate. Stale information is worse than thin information, because the system repeats the wrong thing on your behalf.

On a limited budget, SEO or GEO first?

Both start from the same base - a readable page, correct details, evidence. If your customers still search mainly on Google, put the effort into SEO first and add the GEO testing round after.
